Kannaduki no Miko - ep 12
Despite my liking of the series, I’ve never actually gone back to rewatch any of it. Today, on a whim, I fired up ep 12 to see if it really was that good.
Halfway through the Himeko-Chikane love confession, I started to sniffle. In the garden, when they talk about everything they’ll do, and Himeko herself starts to cry, I was just about to cry too. And when they are torn apart at the very end, and Chikane breaks down completely and cries to Himeko, “I’ll reincarnate and come back, so find me! Find me Himeko!”… that was one of the most emotional moments in anime I’ve seen.
The dialogue is incredibly sweet and corny. The story is ridiculously tragic. The events are overblown, dramatic and convenient. Chikane postpones death from a sword through the chest for a full 20 minutes! But, for some reason, I think Kannaduki no Miko is one of the most romantic love stories ever told in anime. A surprisingly well-told, beautifully executed (well, except for the mechs ^^;;), tragic tale of two people who really love each other. *sigh* Hell, even the flowery dialogue was beautiful.
Chikane: “You are the sun that shines gently on me. The moon shines because the sun is there. That’s why it wants to shine more beautifully than anything else. I just wanted you to look at me.”
Himeko: “The sun shines because it has the moon. Because the moon shows the sun how to shine, the sun tries its best to shine brighter. It’s all for the moon. I want to be your Himeko who shines forever on your moon, Chikane-chan.”

And there’s more. Himeko tells Chikane she doesn’t ever want to forget, that she can’t bear to lose Chikane again, she’ll fight against eternity or fate or even God…
Dudes, this is brilliant voice acting.
Himeko and Chikane, forever destined to be apart. Absolutely stunning, gut-wrenching in its emotional intensity.

Gah, I’m such an anime otaku -_-\__

I really do agree with you when it comes to Kannazuki no Miko. I fell in love with Chikane-chan the moment I saw her. And the funny thing was…I was comepletely against Shojou-Ai anime. Seeing the first episode, I couldn’t bring myself to come away from it.
And trust me, I cried in the last two episodes. I felt so bad for Chikane-chan and Himeko.
Kannazuki no Miko forever!

I think Chikane-chan was pretty messed up, and Himeko is just the type of character that I find really annoying… but for some reason, it works! I have to watch this series again. I’m sure the early episodes are pretty tragic as well.
I love the way Chikane is so crazy in the second last episode. Wow!

When I found Kannaduki No Miko I also fell inlove after watching the first episode. I fell in love with Chikane-chan right when she first came into the series. It is so sad =( I cried so hard in the last two episodes and I agree I wish there were more than 12 episodes!

A lot of people say the last part, after the credits, is a cheesy cop-out ending, but I’m glad the series shows us hope that the two can be together at last.
I saw a bit of Kyoshiro Sora (the new anime by the KnM team) but it’s just not the same, not even with the Himeko-Chikane lookalikes. KnM was awesome because Chikane angsted all the way through *sigh*
